ZIMBROS – 11 MARCH 2018 – TALES FROM THE CHILDHOOD

Tales from the Childhood

Creanga, Ion Creanga is agent 007 of childhood memories. This guy had a fantastic childhood and I remember his stories with a joy similar to my son’s watching Captain Fantastic.

But my 007 stories from childhood are toy-less. My parents recall their childhood marked by a World War followed by a long period of Communism when there were no toys.

Now I feel a 008 and I tell a story sitting on a gorgeous beach in Brazil.

My Dad bought me a toy train. I used to put it together once a year and I needed an entire living room for this. The rest of the year it was kept in the topmost drawer of the living room furniture that was full of trinkets.

As a child, I had to go past level one of the porcelain elephants. The ballerinas had their exercises on level two while a small Chinese guy under disguise as a fisherman was guarding the secret entrance pretending he was fishing.

I am part of the generation of kids “with their keys tied around their necks” (taking care of themselves after school and until their parents came home). It was hard and risky to try to access the magic drawer while the parents were not at home.

Following the same idea I bought Aris a drone on his birthday. We were in Chile back then. They played with it pretty much as I played with my childhood train: almost at all. Until the day I lost it in Paraguay. He wasn’t upset at all. He wasn’t very attached to my toy! 🙂

On my birthday I already told you that I bought myself a professional drone. My father might not approve of that, but I let Aris play with it. I know, he is a child, it is expensive and he might loose it.

What about childhood, don’t we lose it also?

If not now, then when?

Dad, don’t be mad, but I promised Aris that if he loses the drone I will give him the train that you so carefully kept.

If not now, then when?

Amintiri din Copilarie

Creanga.

Eram in Chile pe vremea aia. S-a jucat cu ea cat m-am jucat si eu cu trenuletul in copilarie. Mai deloc.

Pana in ziua in care i-am pierdut-o in Paraguai. Nu s-a suparat! Nu era prea atasat de jucaria mea! 🙂
