Today was tanning day. We knew we would find coconuts on the ground so we took a knife with us to be able to open them. 

This spares us of carrying water. 

We are in Bahia, where Brazil’s history begins, the place where the Portuguese first set foot. Here the Portuguese started importing the workforce from Africa for the coffee and sugarcane plantations and this is also the place of the most diverse gastronomical offering, with deep African influences. 

Today we ate an Acarajé that was totally awesome, flavors and consistencies not related to anything already tried. 

Acarajé is a sandwich made of a donut filled with different cashew spreads, smoked shrimp, smoked crabs, and salad. 

The donut is made of smashed bean paste and then fried, like a beans hummus fried in dendê oil. 

Other than that, we read and we love each other. 

The trip at sea is as undecided as the whale’s tail, with the wind blowing heavily. 

It’s ok, we’ll wait…


Astazi a fost zi de plaja. Deja stiam ca vom gasi nuci de cocos pe jos asa ca am plecat inarmati cu un briceag pentru a le putea deschide. Asta ne scuteste de a mai cara apa cu noi.

Ne aflam in Bahia, locul in care incepe istoria Braziliei, locul unde portughezii au pus prima oara piciorul.

Aici incep portughezii sa importe forta de munca din Africa pentru plantatiile de cafea si trestie de zahar si de aceea tot aici gasim si cea mai diversa paleta gastronomica, cu puternice influente africane.

Astazi am mancat un Acarajé care a fost realmente genial, niste gusturi si texturi pe care nu le poti raporta la nimic cunoscut. Acarajé este un sandwich facut dintr-o gogoasa taiata pe mijloc si umpluta cu diferite paste din seminte de caju, creveti, crabi afumati si salata.

Gogoasa este facuta din pasta de fasole batuta sau facaluita, prajita, adica un fel de humus din fasole boabe, prajit in ulei de dendê.

In rest citim si ne iubim.

Excursia pe mare e in coada de balena pentru ca vantul n-are ce face si sufla prea tare.

Nu-i nimic, asteptam…
